Thanks for Water Festival work
The North Barrow Branch of the Inland Waterways Association would like to thank all who took part in the recent Water Festival. Special thanks goes to Aidan Prendergast and Athy Scouts, Athy Triathlon Club, Clancy’s pub, The Bridge House, Rev Cliff Jeffers, Fr Morty O’Shea, Athy Civil Defence, Cllr Richard Daly, the Vintage Fire Trust, John Shaughnessy, Patricia Berry, Frank Taaffe, Athy Film Club and Churchtown Pipe Band. The weekend was sponsored through the generous support of Waterways Ireland.

Athy Tri-Athlon Club announce their training plan
If one of your goals is to complete a tri-athlon or to enter a relay team then, you are more than welcome to join Athy tri club in training and we will help motivate you and or your team to achieve that goal.

Athy Community First Responder
Athy Community First Responder is setting up in Athy and we need your help to help those close to you.
Community First Responder Volunteers will be fully trained to perform CPR, to use an AED (Defibrillator) and perform Oxygen therapy. First Responders work in conjunction with the HSE to attend emergency calls received by the ambulance service and provide care until the ambulance arrives.

Dylans family day – please come along and support
You are all invited to Dylan’s monster drive and family day out on Sunday 27th May in the Hunting Ground, Athy.
The event is being organised by family of friends of Dylan Steele from Barrowhouse who suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
This is a life threatening, debilitating and progressive muscle wasting disease for which there is no cure..
Dylan loves all types of cars, rally cars, lorries and monster trucks, tractors, motorbikes, customized cars etc so we are holding a fundraising event for Dylan on Sunday the 27th of May in the Hunting Ground, Athy.
This is Dylan’s monster drive and family fun day out.
There will be lots to do for young and old on the day from pony rides, face painting, pet farm, bouncy castles, sumo suits, mini go karts, kiddies funfair ride, puppet show and magic show and mini disco to name but a few.
For the kids and for the adults there will be penalty shoot out, auction, how many balloons in the car, how many sweets in the jar and live music from 12 till late.
So please get yourselves down to the Hunting Ground on Sunday the 27th of May next to show your support for Dylan and this very worthy cause.
Registration for all cars, tractors, lorries, motorbikes etc starts at 11 am and the Mayor of Kildare Michael Spike Nolan will officially open proceedings/event also.

Athy Bingo in the GAA hall
Bingo takes place every Sunday at 3pm in Athy GAA Hall. Everyone is welcome for a fun activity on a Sunday afternoon
Tribute Concert in Memory of the late Nora O’Connor
Friday 25th May at 8pm will see a tribute concert in memory of the late Nora O’Connor.
This special night will take place in Athy College with music provided by local artists. Cost of entry is only €10, will all money raised going to the Irish Cancer Society. For further details contact Stephen on 085 1143976
Farmers Market in Emily Square
The Farmers Market takes place every Sunday in Emily Square Athy from 10am till 2pm. This is the perfect event to purchase the very best of locally produce products.
Traffic Diversion moves on R418
The Traffic Diversion on the R418, due to watermain laying from Athy to Old Kilcullen, has being changed.
The Diversion will be moved north to Hacklow Cross and traffic will be diverted via Calverstown Village. Works are ongoing at Ballyshannon Crossroads at Dowling’s Pub today. The section from Ballyshannon Cross to Rathsillagh/Seven Stars Crossroads has re-opened.
The new diversion will be in operation for approximately 4 weeks, and further diversions will follow on from this.
The Teddy Hughes memorial competition
