The Team Fitness Challenge on the Curragh on March 3 was a team building sports event in aid of Kildare Youth Services. As well as local sports clubs taking part plus teams from Tipperary, Loughrea in Galway, Wicklow, Meath and Laois who used the course as a team building session, writes Niamh O’Donoghue.
Companies also took part and the winning team for challenge B was a local team called “Running on Empty” from O’Reilly recruitment. “Approximately 350 people supported us on the day and we are delighted with the turnout and keen on running another event before the end of the year. Teams of four persons and two persons who took part in Challenge A, tested their level of fitness and were put under pressure when completing tasks like the log drag and the tyre flip,” explained organiser, Donna Hill.
The course consisted of completing 20 tasks within 60 minutes over a 280m distance for each task. For the easier challenge, Challenge B, the teams completed map memory games, the fun ski walk task and a jigsaw. Thankfully the weather was great on the day and the Curragh proved itself once more that its the place to be on a sunny Spring Saturday. There was plenty of smiling but tired faces in the clubhouse afterwards and KYS received great feedback and huge interest in taking part in the next event.
KYS would like to thank those who supported them on the day and in particular to Jim(Gags) and Mick Power and their team from teamtraining.ie who set up the courses, the Irish red cross, Kildare Value Retail, Starbucks in Kildare village for sponsoring the prizes and the Defence Forces for their permission to use the Curragh and the rugby club facilities.
