Clane GAA Underage Committee

Clane GAA Underage Committee is looking for your support to finalise our Scrap collection fundraiser. This very successful venture was held from May 28 to June 2 2012 and raised much needed funds for equipment, pitch maintenance, referee costs, etc. for our underage teams. We have had tremendous support from the community, volunteers, football and hurling mentors and the O’Connell family who gave us the use of their yard. We have received very positive feedback from so many people. Thank you all very much. We still have one half filled skip which needs to be returned by the end of March. We hope to fill this before then. The yard will be open on Thursday March 28 from 5pm to 7pm, Friday March 29 from 2pm to 7pm, and Saturday 30th March from 10am to 4pm. If you have any scrap metal we would really appreciate if you could drop it at O’Connell’s yard, Millicent Road, Clane, where volunteers will be in attendance, at those times. If you have any items which are too large to drop off (old boilers etc) we will try to arrange collection. Contact 0872526993/0879694059/0872331141.

Clane Community Council

The new 2013 Clane Community Council held its first meeting on February 25th last. The new sub-committees were all elected and you can see the membership on our website here: http://clanecommunity.ie/council/clane-community-council-2013/. Please contact anyone on the appropriate sub-committee if you have a question for them. We are delighted to see more and more community groups requesting a page on http://clanecommunity.ie. You can find them all under the Groups menu. If you know of a community group that would like a web page on the site please request a page using the “Request a New Group Page” option. More and more groups are also registering their events. Take a look at http://clanecommunity.ie/calendar/. You can also use the website to apply for our community tree-planting scheme. Residents’ Associations and other organisations are invited to apply for trees which we will supply later in the year to help celebrate 40 Years of Community in Clane. Professionals have volunteered to advise on the appropriate size, number and species of tree for each application. This is National Tree Week and a great time to plant bare-root trees. Clane Tidy Towns is seizing the opportunity to kick-off a big 2013 project. They will start planting a native hedge along the walls of the Ballinagappa Road this Saturday morning. Please come along during the morning or afternoon if you have some spare time. Kick-off 9:30am at the entrance to Oatfield Park. We’d be delighted to see you.
