The rural national school, Scoil Bhride, serves areas including Ellistown in a catchment area bordered by Rathangan, Monasterevin and Kildare town.

Recently the school was awarded its first Green Flag for environmental projects undertaken by the pupils under the guidance of the teachers.

Johne Murphy, Munster rugby star and a past pupil was on hand to witness the award presentation. Johne also played football for Ellistown a few years ago when the club was a force at senior football championship level in the county.

Parents as well as teachers and staff attended the ceremony.
