Athy Model School held the official opening of its new building on Thursday 21 June.

The event was attended by current pupils and their parents as well as a number of the school’s past pupils. On the day, a service was held in the new PE hall led by Rev Cliff Jeffers. Afterwards, Archbishop of Dublin and Glendalough the Most Rev. Dr. Michael Jackson officially opened the school when he cut the ribbon and unveiled a plaque to mark the occasion. Some of the school’s current pupils performed Irish dancing and red and blue balloons were released outside. Everyone was then invited for tea and refreshments in the school assembly room.
