Newbridge Credit Union hosted the official launch of Newbridge in Bloom 2012 last Tuesday, June 29.
180 planters filled with colourful flowers have been placed in various locations throughout the commercial centre of the town.
The initiative, run by Newbridge Tidy Towns and sponsored by the Credit Union, aims to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere to the town’s commercial centre. It is now in its eighth year.
Ben Donnelly, Chairman of Newbridge Credit Union said that the organisation is committed to sponsoring community initiatives”.
Déaglán de Paor, secretary of Newbridge Tidy Towns, said “we hope to attract visitors to Newbridge who will in turn support the various businesses in the town”.
The start of this year’s display was brought forward to coincide with last weekend’s Junefest. It is hoped - weather permitting - that the town will be in full bloom until September when Newbridge 200 will be celebrated.

The floral display is designed and prepared by local horticulturist Jer Delaney of Gardens to Groom. The association also complimented the businesses who have planted the roundabouts on the approach roads to the town at Buckley’s Cross and the Curragh Roundabout.
