Weather does not deter Leixlip Festival crowds

DULL grey weather over the weekend did not curb the enthusiasm of Leixlip residents and visitors for the annual festival last weekend, writes Henry Bauress.

“It went very well,” said Festival committee chairman, Bernard Caldwell.

“We had great crowds and while weather help it did not keep people away,” he said. The rain came late on Saturday and activities started two hours later on Sunday.

The annual fire works display also went down very well. “The car park was full and there were people spilling onto the Main Street for that,” he said. A large number of volunteers on the Festival committee worked long hours over the weekend and were still on the go at 1.30 am early Monday morning, he said.
