AROUND 30 teenagers and their adult leaders from Newbridge No Name Club will travel to Kilkenny on April 16 at the No Name Club National Youth Awards.

“The event is a celebration of youth achievement,” said PRO Micheal McGlynn.

“Teenagers from Newbridge and also Kilcullen will join thousands of others and their adult leaders from over 40 communities around Ireland.”

The Youth Awards are an annual celebration to bring teenagers from clubs all over Ireland together to recognise the excellent work the young people carry out.

“This is the 33rd year of the awards having first been run in 1978,” he added.

“The No Name Club Host and Hostess of the year will be named at the Awards ceremoy and 12 teenagers have made it to the final of this event.”

No Name Clubs are run by and for young people aged 15 years and over who come together in a safe and lively environment where there is fun, friendship and enjoyment without the pressure of alcohol or other drugs.

“Over the years thousands of young people in Kildare have valued their involvement in the club that allows them to enjoy themselves socially with their peers in a safe and friendly enviroment,” he said.

“The ethos of the club is to offer young people an alternative to the pub culture that is so popular in Ireland”
