The community in West Wicklow have all been inspired by the paralympian champion, Helen Kearney, on her triple medal win in the London paralympics. So inspired were they that Rathsallagh Golf Club chef Mark Fuston and Dunlavin Bacon Company Mark Walsh ran a golf classic on 26th October 2012. It was cold day but the rain stayed off as golfers cued up for their place to play on what would be seen as the last day before the winter. The food in the golf club was welcomed on their return and a large crowd were present for the prize giving which saw local team Dean Sheridan, Johnny McGrath, Eoin Roddy, Dunlavin Pat Byrne Baltinglass take the honours. Over €3,000 was raised but the full figure realised is not available just yet.
