EQUIPMENT DRIVE

Maynooth GAA is kindly asking for donations of GAA equipment, which will be then be distributed within the club to help grow and support each code of sport, particularly the Nursery section of the club.

So, if you have the following GAA equipment gathering dust in your home or that your child has grown out of, please donate it, as it will be given a good home and a new lease of life. Items welcome are helmets (even if faulty, please bring, as they could be mended) hurleys (all sizes) footballs sliotars, training Equipment (Cones/Bibs/Goals…) or any other equipment, you feel could be of use to the club.

SILVER SCREENING

Maynooth Library will be screening “The Shop around the Corner”

Starring James Stewart and Margaret Sullavan, two employees at a gift shop can barely stand one another but without realising it they’re falling in love via the post, as each other’s penpal. The screening is on Thursday, December 6 at 10:30am

CHANGES IN MASS TIMES

The Parish Pastoral Council in the local parish of Maynooth and Ladychapel has decided to change some of the mass times on Sundays because of congestion in the car park, particularly at the later Masses. From the first Sunday of Advent, December 2, the new mass times on Sunday will be at 8:45am, 10:00am, 11:30am and 1:00pm. The 7:00pm Vigil on Saturday and 6:00pm on Sunday evening will remain the same.

PHOENIX PARK WALK

The Maynooth Hillwalking Club are organising one of its popular Introductory Walks on Sunday December 16. This will be a pleasant walk in Phoenix Park area, finishing back at Farmleigh for Food Market and Christmas Activities in the House. Total distance will be around 10km, which should be completed in approximately 3 hours

Meet at 10am in Farmleigh car park, Phoenix Park. Check the website at www.maynoothhillwalkingclub.ie for visitors’ rules.

STORYTIME

Storytime for Pre-school children, aged under 5 years old, will take place in the library on Monday mornings from 10.00am to 11.00am. This is a specially allocated hour for the Parent and Toddler Group. The next meeting will take place on Monday December 3.

GETTING TO ZERO

Saint Patrick’s College and Trócaire invite you to a conference to mark World AIDS Day. It is entitled “Getting to Zero: Faith and Justice Perspectives on the Global AIDS Pandemic” and it takes place on the Renehan Hall, Maynooth College on November 28. The afternoon session is from 4 - 6pm and the evening session from 7 - 9pm. Speakers will include Moral Theologian Rev. Enda McDonagh and HIV / Development specialists Ann Smith, Ann Nolan, Noreen McGrath Gumbo and Lucy Ghati. Contact wadconf@gmail.com

PROTESTANT EDUCATION

The Centre for the Study of Irish Protestantism is hosting an evening colloquium on the challenges and opportunities facing Irish Protestant Education, on Tuesday November 27 at 7 30 pm (refreshments from 7pm) in the Education Lecture Theatre, Education House, NUIM. Speakers will include Dr. Ken Fennelly, Secretary of the Church of Ireland Synod’s Board of Education and Prof Anne Ryan, Dept. of Adult and Community Education, NUI Maynooth and proceedings will be chaired by Dr. Anne Lodge, Principal of the Church of Ireland College of Education, Rathmines. CHRISTMAS CARD

The 2012 St Patrick’s College Christmas Card is now available. It features the window from the chapel dedicated to Saint Joseph, located behind the Main Altar of the College Chapel at Saint Patrick’s College, Maynooth. This card, and several others from the Maynooth College Collection may be obtained from the Bookshop, on the North Campus.

CHOICES PROGRAMME

Based in J4 Maynooth Business Campus at the M4 roundabout, the National Learning Network is providing funded training for 18 – 65 year-olds who are in recovery from mental health difficulties. They may be unemployed, struggling with daily living and perhaps require a stepping-stone before they return to work/further education. Current students come from Maynooth, Kilcock, Celbridge, Leixlip, Lucan and surrounding areas. Contact Robert/Liz for the details at 01 6510329.

CHRISTMAS BAZAAR

The North Kildare Tennis Club, at the Maws, between Maynooth and Kilcock, will be hosting a Christmas Bazaar Night on December 6, starting at 8pm. There will be a Christmas Finger Food demonstration at 8.30 and 9.30pm and a Christmas Flower Arranging demonstration at 9pm. There will be Ava Rose clothes, handbags and jewellery, Veronica’s Country Kitchen with home baking and crafts and Funky Chocolate. There will be wine tasting and a raffle. Tickets at E10 include finger food and a glass of wine. Tickets are available from the Tennis Club Committee including Edel 087-6228517 and Amanda 087-2076159.
