Jonathan Swift School
The new pedestrian pathway to the school will be officially opened on Tuesday November 27. The opening ceremony will be performed by Mrs Rachel Merry. The pathway is to be called ‘The Merry Way’ in memory of Mr Gordon Merry, a great friend of Jonathan Swift N.S who passed away last year. A granite seat in his memory will also be unveiled. All are welcome to the ceremony at 12 noon on the day. This pedestrian pathway forms a major part of our application for a 4th green flag on Travel which the children, teachers and parents are working hard to achieve.
A bus will travel from Dunlavin on December 8th to the National Concert Hall for “It’s a wonderful Musical Life” A century of Broadway Magic at Christmas. The bus will leave Dunlavin at 12.30 concert at 3pm. Will return at 7pm. Enquiries to 0879693960.
The Dunlavin &District Forum Christmas Lights Ceremony will take place on Saturday December 8th at 5pm at the Market House. All welcome to come along and join in some Christmas Carols.
Dunlavin Community playschool are starting up a new Carer and Toddler Group. The group will meet every Thursday from 1-3pm in the playschool. This is a great opportunity to meet other parents and have a chat over a cup of tea while the children play. It also helps introduce young children to the playschool and makes it easier for when they start. Parents, Carers and Grandparents welcome. Enquiries 045 406866.
Sympathy is extended to the family of Jim Brophy who died last week after a long illness. Jim who was predeceased by his daughter Amanda is mourned by his wife Kay, daughter Jacqueline, sons Paul and Raymond, sisters Jean and Mary, brothers Mick, Pat, Brendan, Sean and Des and many relatives and friends. Jim’s funeral took place in Dunlavin on Wednesday November 21 2012. Celebrant was Rev Douglas Malone. May Jim rest in peace.
A whist drive will take place on Novemvber 30 in Donoughmore Hall at 8.30pm.There will be a monster whist drive on December 21, it is the Christmas Poultry drive with many great prizes on the night.
