St Brigid’s head off to All-Ireland

The County Kildare Pitch and Putt Competition was held in Athgarvan Pitch and Putt club on Friday, June 22 with Newbridge St Brigids team through to the All-Ireland finals in Athlone in August.

“Both St Brigids and County Kildare Community Games would like to say a special thank you to the Athgarvan Pitch and Putt committee for hosting the event,” said David Rogerson of the community games.

“In particular James Dunne, secretary of the Athgarvan Club and also to Joe Deagan from the Royston Pitch and Putt who helped coordinate the event.

“The team are now off to represent us in the all-Ireland finals in Athlone on the 17 to 19 August.”

According to the match report, weather conditions on the night included strong winds which did not favour any of the teams.

“There were great performances from Newbridge St Brigids team with fantastic scores of 60, 57, 49, 57, and 61,” he added.

“Danny Leahy of St Brigids was the ‘best scorer of the competition’ with an outstanding 49 on a night where the conditions did not favour any of the lads with a very strong winds.”

Meanwhile Newbridge St Brigids had a very good win in the Leinster Championship in the with the u12 skittles against Limekill of Dublin on Wednesday, 20 June and have now qualified to represent the County in the Leinster finals in Carlow on July 7.

Also going to the Leinster finals are the u11 tag rugby and u13 girl’s football.
