That is according to Gospel singer Rosaleen Barry orginally from Paric Mhuire who has brought her talents home after living in Dublin for 22 years to set up the first Gospel Choir for Newbridge.

“I have been singing Gospel for 12 years now,” she said.

“I set it up with Sr Kate and Sr Catherine of the Holy Family Convent and we have 55 members and our music director is Lisa Nagle .

“We don’t audition and we never say no to anybody - we have a place for every person and everybody is very welcome. I was very surprised at the amount of interest but it is very uplifting and I can see how people would love that type of music.”

The group are facilitated by Newbridge Parish and rehearsals are held in the Holy Family Convent every Monday night at 7.30pm.

The choir will sing monthly at the 7:00pm mass in the Parish Church on Sunday Evenings.
