It’s that time of the year again where the 11th Annual Charity Auction for St Vincent’s Hospital takes centre stage and St Vincent’s Hospital in Athy is seeking your support.

Matron Helen Dreelan is appealing for donations of all kinds. “We require donations of clean saleable items. Other donations such as unwanted gifts, vouchers, food hampers, bottles of wine or spirits, cash donations and so on will be very welcome.”

Now in its 11th year the auction has become a cornerstone in the Kildare south town. Taking place in Athy GAA on Sunday April 29th at 2.15pm, it promises to be a great day out, with 400 lots under the hammer, including a hot date with Jack Wall TD, lunch for four in Dail Eireann.

“Proceeds from the auction help finance the patients’ Therapeutic Recreation Activities Department,” explains Mrs Dreelan. “The department provides a wide range of social, recreational and therapeutic activities, including art therapy, crafts, gardening, parties and outings for the residents/patients.” Indeed the Leader understands weekly bingo and re-runs of Laurel and Hardy are currently very popular.

Sgt Leon Kenny will once again take to the chair and it is hoped every item will go. “We are relying on your support and would love to see you at the auction,” the matron adds.
