MOTORCROSS CHAMPIONS celebrate success
Young Motor Cross Rider Kevin Reid from St. Joseph’s Road and Michael Mahon from Manor Kilbride are fast making a name for themselves on the Motor Cross Racing Circuit.
They were both presented with their Championship trophies at the MCI Awards Evening which was held recently at the City West Hotel in Saggart. Kevin is one of our rising stars in Motor Cross and Grass Track Racing which has a healthy following of youths from the area.
Michael Mahon is one of our country’s top riders who himself has just completed a hugely successful 2012 season both here and across the water in England and is just back from a winning tour in Australia.
Michael is very involved in the essential training of our young riders throughout the
country in this highly competitive Motor Sport.
Best of luck to Kevin and Michael and all our other local riders in the upcoming 2013 season which kicks off in March with training already well underway.
SENIOR CITIZENS HOLD THEIR AGM
Blessington & District Senior Citizens Association will hold their AGM this Tuesday night February 12 in Blessington Further Education Centre at 8pm.
All are most welcome to attend the AGM and further enquiries can be made to Aishling tel. 045 865127.
The death took place on Thursday January 31 in Naas Hospital of Margaret (May) Hayden Kilmallum Blessington.
Her remains were brought to the Church of Our Lady Blessington on Friday February 1 and after requiem mass her burial took place the following day in Burgage Cemetery. There was a large attendance on both days which was very fitting for a lovely lady who was well known, much loved and will be sadly missed in the Blessington and surrounding area.
The long awaited revamp of Glending Housing Estate in Blessington has finally begun. Builders have been busy at work there for a number of weeks repairing all the houses which were badly flooded over four years ago.
Residents have been trying to get something done since then but despite putting pressure on local politicians and Wicklow County Council it has taken until now for something positive to be done.
Better late than never. The hope is that when all the flooded houses plus those that have been vandalised are liveable again all the other housing problems will then be sorted out.
Despite a major housing shortage in the county there are over twenty vacant houses in the Glending Estate which is a council estate since it was
built in 2006.
If you have been out of work through illness, injury or disability and you’re looking to get back to the workforce, then Obair located at Kilcullen Road, Naas can help you.
An employability service Job Coach will be available to meet you in Obair offices behind the Maxol Garage on the Kilcullen Road on Friday from 10am to 1pm. Contact Marion at 087 951 3427 for further details.
