TRUE HEART FAIR
The True Heart of Christmas Fair, in aid of the Cardiac Unit in Our Lady’s Hospital Crumlin will be held in Scoil Mhuire in Leixlip on Sunday December 9, starting at 2pm.
This should be a great afternoon with plenty in the way of Christmas fare. There will be lots of stalls, a raffle, face painting for the kids, hot chocolate, mince pies. and, of course, the day would not be compete without Santa. Admission is free. The Leixlip History Group is hosting a Memorabilia Night in Leixlip Library on Tuesday, December 4 at 7.15pm. Members, local residents and the general public are invited to bring along some bits and pieces of historic interest or of family sentimental value and explain their significance, if known, to those attending.
The objects need not be of Leixlip or of Kildare origin. All welcome so come along and have a look.
Leixlip town Council will hold its next meeting on Tuesday December 4 in the Council Chamber, Newtown House. The meeting will start at 6.30pm with a review of the Draft Budget 2013.
There will be a Traditional Music Recital hosted by Craobh Bheartla Ui Fhlatharta – Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann – with Caitlin Nic Gabhann and Ciaran O Maonaigh on Friday December 7 at 8pm. at Our Lady’s Parish Centre, Leixlip. Admission is €10. There will be a wine Reception during the interval. Concessions apply.
There will be no regulation of parking from Wednesday December 19 to Wednesday December 26, Normal operation will resume from Thursday December 27.
The Courtyard Hotel is having an outdoor Christmas Market on Saturday December 8 from 5-8pm and on Sunday December 9 from 1- 5pm with a special visit from Santa on the Sunday. There is no cover charge and there will be carol singers, food and drink stalls, crafts stalls selling ideal Christmas gifts and many more.
This is a family event not to be missed.
The annual Christmas Coffee Morning in aid of the Lourdes Invalid Fund will be in 18 Rockingham Avenue next Friday, December 7 from 9am. to 2pm.
There will be a raffle for some unusual prizes on the day, including a painting by Fred Ball, a free house window clean (from Kenneth Edgar Cleaning) tickets to Beauty and The Beast in the Helix (Claire Tighe) large iced Christmas Cake, large iced biscuit cake, bottle of Bailey’s and, last but not least a homemade carrot cake. The Intercultural Friends Group along with the Leixlip Parent and Toddler Group - invite you to an International Family Party at Our Lady’s Parish Centre on Saturday December 8 from 3 – 5 p.m. All newcomers to Leixlip are welcome. There will be entertainment from many parts of the world. If you have a party piece do please come along and surprise us. Children must accompanied by an adult.
The Annual Collection on behalf of the Leixlip Conference of the Society of St. Vincent De Paul will take during all Masses in the Parish next weekend December 9/10.
It will replace the usual Share Collection. A member of the local conference will speak at all Masses, and explain the work of the SVDeP in assisting fellow parishioners who are in need. You are being invited to be as generous as you can because a significant number of people are relying on your generosity over this Christmas and winter period.
The Society takes the opportunity to thank everyone for their ongoing and generous support, not just at this time, but throughout the year.
December 7 at 8pm will see the second year of the NUIM Barnhall RFC Christmas Concert at the K Club.
Celtic Rose will again entertain with music and there will be song, banter and great craic. This is a great opportunity to bring the family out for a wonderful experience of excellent music in elegant surroundings. And all for €20.00

Aware’s Kildare support group for individuals with experience of depression, meets every Monday at 8pm (excl. Bank Holidays), at Scoil San Carlo (behind Confey Church), Captain’s Hill, Leixlip. The group offers separate groups for relatives and young people as well.
