On Saturday last 28 April, the second Kildare Newbridge Scout Troop rolled up their sleeves as part of the An Taisce Spring Clean event organised at the Den and the Care of the Elderly Center in Newbridge.

“We had children ranging in ages from 6 - 15 along with adult scouters take part,” said Sharon McAuliffe from the 2nd Kildare Newbridge Scout Troop.

“The younger children ages 6-9 planted some bulbs and flowers around the Den and cleaned the area too. The older children ages 9-15 worked hard in the Care of the Elderly Center, removing weeds and debris. We picked the Care of the Elderly Center because it is right beside the scout den. It was really to make the children aware that there are much older people around and to make them appreciate them.”The scouts were joined by Town Mayor Damian Molyneaux who praised all the eager youngsters who got involved in the clean up.“We were joined by Mayor Daniam Moylneaux who thanked the children for all their hard work,” she added. He also congratulated them on a job well done. The children had a great afternoon and were rewarded with a barbeque.”
