STAFF at the Centra store in Hazelmere, Naas, have been busy preparing for the Run Kildare event on May 13.

They are doing so under the guidance of local man and qualified personal trainer Brendan Loughlin.

Mr. Loughlin, who holds a National Certificate in Exercise and Fitness, has worked in many areas of the fitness industry, such as gaining experience in Killashee Leisure Centre in designing fitness programmes, teaching classes in ki-bo, spinning, boxercise and circuit training. He has run circuit training classes in conjunction with renowned former Irish international soccer player Niall Quinn and devised tailored programmes when working with senior football teams in pre-season training .

In February 2012 Brendan took on the challenge of training members of staff and customers of Cross’s Centra under their “Get Fit Programme”, the objective is to participate in The Run Kildare 10km on May 13 and raise money for charity along the way. It has been a fantastic experience for everyone involved, he is proud to be associated with such a positive initiative.

The Cross’s Centra store was itself awarded the Centra Store of the Year title for 2012, beating off stiff competition from nine other finalists around the country.

All 458 Centra stores throughout the Republic of Ireland are assessed for the Centra Store of the Year competition by independent retail consultant, Alan Collins. The audit focuses on value, fresh food, product range, hygiene and customer care.

Commenting on the award, competition judge, Alan Collins said “The store has that unique shopping experience and it all comes together at the front of the store where you are greeted by an abundance of top quality fresh food.

The bakery and deli also adds another key dimension to this stores offer, driving daily traffic and complementing the value added offers throughout the store. Cross’s work hard to provide the best value for money on a full range of goods to meet all their customer’s needs and budgets.

The store also places a huge emphasis on providing excellent customer service and the friendliness evident throughout the store is contagious. This is the kind of store everyone wants on their doorstep.”

Delighted with the win, Andrew Cross paid tribute to his team and said that their constant dedication and professional approach was what singled out the Naas store for the award. “We work hard as a team on a daily basis to provide our customers with first-rate customer service and excellent value throughout the store.”
