Members of Kildare Youth Services (KYS) warmed people’s hearts, minds and stomachs last Friday lunchtime as they handed out free cups of soup on the streets of Naas, writes Liam Godinho.
It was the group’s way of saying thanks to the community for all of their donations and support in the past year and giving something back to them.
“We get a lot of support from the community here in Naas and all around the county through the year,” KYS regional director Tom Dunne told the Leinster Leader.
“We do something every year at Christmas time of a charity nature. This year we’ve decided to do the soup. We’ve been supported in it by Vie de Chateau restaurant. They’ve made the soup for us and provided soup and cups and all the equipment for free.”
The group had around 400 portions of tasty vegetable soup to serve from stands in Poplar Square and outside the KYS premesis on Basin Street.
They were also helped out by students from Piper’s Hill in Naas.
