This year local Newbridge man, Michael ‘Spike’ Nolan who is the current Mayor of County Kildare is travelling to New York to represent his county at the city’s renowned parade and attend many other ceremonies in the Big Apple.

At a press launch on Saturday last, organised by twinning Pro, Peter O’Neill, the Newbridge/Bad Lippspringe Twinning committee, were delighted to present the Mayor with an advance copy of the promotional DVD, of the town, which they have just completed to bring with him on his trip ahead of the official launch which will take place in the next few weeks at which the Mayor of Newbridge and members of the Town Council who were major supporters of the project are expected to attend.

The DVD will be shown to many groups, organisations and to industrial leaders and it will portray the town as a desirable place to live and invest in. ‘’It shows everything good about the town, socially culturally and economically,’’ says Claire Doyle, chairperson of the twinning group. Claire also expressed the hope that the DVD would reflect the pride Newbridge people feel for their town and instil a feel-good factor after a viewing.

Mayor Nolan expressed his delight at being in a position to bring the DVD to New York and congratulated the twinning Committee and all associated with the production of what he described as ‘’a valuable tool for all who have an interest in playing a positive role in their community.’’
