ROUND Towers GAA club in Kildare town has launched a major fundraising drive with a number of events planned.

A quiz takes place on Thursday February 28 in Cunninghams at 8.30pm. Tables cost E40 each. There will also be a scrap metal collection from March 13 to 18 at Chapman’s garage. A representative from the club will be on hand to accept any donations. Collections can also be arranged by contacting any committee member. Dunnes Stores, Newbridge is the venue for a bag pack on March 29. A race night is also pencilled in for April 5 in Cunninghams.

“It’s like every other club and organisation, it’s hard to raise money and we have to organise the fundraisers to keep it going. The money raised is our bread and butter. It will fund the lights, all the costs associated with running the club,” said PRO Ollie Kearns.

He said the club’s new lotto tickets, which feature the latest up to date fixtures each week, have been introduced. There are up to 200 members in the club including juvenile players. Anyone who wants to help out can contact any committee member. Another event which is being planned for June is a Towers Got Talent competition.
