Tourism website launched by Kildare Chamber
IN a bid to boost tourism business in Kildare town, the local Chamber has developed a brand new exciting website, www.destinationkildaretown.ie
The site was officially launched by Mayor of Kildare, Spike Nolan last Monday night March 4 at Teach Dara, Academy Street, Kildare Town.
Chamber President, Brian Flanagan explained its original site had merely been a portal for business contacts and information about the Chamber, which was used by members and the community.
““Rather than just have that, we wanted to provide a site where people could learn about what Kildare has to offer. If you are from the locality you will know about the National Stud, and the other various places, but we wanted to attract visitors from all over the country. When you type in Kildare in google, we want our site to pop up,” he said.
With the phenomenal success of Kildare Village, the Chamber also want to attract those shoppers into the town.
“We want to open up Kildare to a broader market, so people see it as a destination in its own right,” added Brian.
The Chamber believes the town is a fantastic place for day trips and given its close proximity to Dublin and good transport links, it has great potential to attract more visitors. It stressed the site is of fundamental importance to highlight and showcase the town’s heritage, tourist sites, business, community groups, services and to promote Kildare Town as Ireland’s number one day trip destination.
“We are delighted with the enthusiasm expressed for the website, the response from tourist operators, business and community groups is very positive” explained Mr. Flanagan, He added “the comments received from all stake holders are that the site is amazing, and they are very proud and happy to have their own Kildare Town website. We are confident that the site will be a tremendous success in bringing tourist to Kildare town and will be another tool to promote local business and assist community groups.”
The Chamber received funding from the County Kildare Leader Partnership, which covered a web designer, professional photographer and a PR marketing business. Despite the site’s short existence, results show it’s had visitors from many places including Germany, Australia, Dublin.
The project was facilitated by Anne Brain of Fit Marketing.
