An unusual conference will be paying a visit to the Maynooth Campus Conference and Accommodation (MCCA) facility this month.
The venue will host the ninth annual Irish Salsa Congress from June 20 to 22nd.
Some 250 twinkle-toed Salsa enthusiasts are expected to attend the conference, along with well-known national and international figures in the world of the Latin Dance.
There will be teachers from the USA, England, Scotland, South Africa and France at the conference, along with some home-grown talent.
The non-profit event was founded nine years ago by friends Mark Elmore and Michael Gargan.
“What we have established in Maynooth is unique,” said Mr Elmore. “When we began we simply wished to run a professional, exciting and enjoyable weekend for those who love Salsa Dancing and those who wish to learn.”
Salsa has taken off in popularity in Ireland over the past decade, and has spread from its initial base in the large cities to active weekly classes in rural communities across the country.
The MCCA has recently become a member of County Kildare Failte, which is working to promote it as a venue to attract conferences to Kildare, using the pulling power of its proximity to Dublin, the accommodation available on-campus and the scientific, literary and historic attractions of the university.
