AN impressive effort is underway to make Naas town centre an attractive shopping venue in the run up to Christmas.

A Festival of Light on Saturday November 17 will see the Christmas lights switched on and the arrival of Santa.

There will be markets, live music on the streets every weekend with a guest performance from boy band Level 5, extra trading hours and exclusive in-store promotions in shops with special parking arrangements.

It will feature parades from schools with over 200 children taking part in the spectacle.

The market opens also on November 17 with festive fare at Naas Courthouse plaza. It runs from 10am-5.30pm every Saturday offering crêpes, candyfloss, homemade chocolates, baked goods and gourmet delights, crafts, candles, frames, lanterns, cashmere and pearls, flowers and granite centrepieces.

There will be music on successive Saturdays (4-5pm) with the Gospel Choir, Nás na Ríogh Singers, the Local Authorities Choir, Mona Conroy’s Childrens group and boyband Level 5. A December 23 draw will give away E4,000 worth of vouchers.
