THE head of the Greenwire project being run by Element Power Ireland has plenty of experience in the field, the company has said.

Sean Perry, Keating Associates said: “At the helm of Element Power Ireland, which will be directly responsible for the roll out of Greenwire, is Tim Cowhig who was instrumental in establishing SWS Energy, one of the largest wind generating firms in Ireland, which was sold to Bord Gáis in December, 2009. At the time of its sale, SWS Energy based in West Cork, operated 179MW of wind generating assets. In addition SWS had an advanced development pipeline of 460MW in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland and employed 50 people at its office in Bandon, Co.Cork. 

“Tim is CEO of Element Power Ireland. He is a past chairman and current director of the Irish Wind Energy Association. He is joined at Element Power Ireland by Kevin O’Donovan and Peter Harte who fill the positions of Chief Development Officer and Chief Technology Officer respectively. Both were pivotal in the rapid growth and expansion of SWS Energy from 2003 to 2009.

Speaking about Elements’s international links, Mr. Perry said: “Element Power is a global renewable energy developer that develops, acquires, builds, owns and operates a portfolio of wind and solar power generation facilities worldwide. The company has operations in 12 countries, with 9,500 MW of projects in development. Its international team has an unparalleled track record formed over decades, and is already responsible for over 10,000 MW of renewable energy projects operating in Europe, North and Latin America and Asia.

“It has operations in London, Madrid, Portland, Cork, Minneapolis,Charlottesville, Verona, Warsaw, Athens and Montpellier.  Furthermore, senior management in Element Power have also held senior positions in RES and Iberdrola who have constructed over 10,000 megawatts of wind energy world wide.”
