Road closures are necessary for runs.

Road closures are necessary for runs.

Clane Gardai have announced details of road closures associated with two running events coming up in the next few weeks.

This coming Saturday, to co-incide with the Donadea 10k event, Gardai will be closing the road that runs from St. Kevin’s GAA to Staplestown Cross, left at the cross and over to Connolly’s pub, and from there to the right up as far as the entrance to Donadea Forest Park.

Gardai will be on duty at all of the various junctions. The road will close at 11am for approximately an hour.

The road race will make its way for three kilometres from St. Kevins and across into the Park, where the remaining seven kilometres will be run.

The following Sunday, October 21, will see another 10k road race, this time in and around Clane village. The event is organised by the Clane and Rathcoffey Parish.

Starting at the ringroad near the Tesco at 2pm that day, the run will make its way to the roundabout on the Sallins road, go back in towards the village before turning left at the Corner House Pub, making its way to Firmont Cross and turning right into Loughanure.

From there it will make its way back over to the Ballinagappa Road and back into the village before heading out again towards Kilcock.

It will take the right turn into Capdoo and emerge once again at the old McKenna’s hardware shop before making its way back to the main street and ending on the Main Street at the Church.

Road closures and traffic diversions will be on a rolling basis from 2pm onwards until approximately 6pm.

Gardai and stewards at all the various points on the route.
