New Irish festival set for Sallins

Community group, Sult na Sollán, has announced plans for a new weekend cultural festival in Sallins in October.

Community group, Sult na Sollán, has announced plans for a new weekend cultural festival in Sallins in October.

Féile na Sollán or Sallins TradFest, will see a weekend packed with activities for all ages, as part of a celebration all aspects of Irish traditional culture – language, music, dance and song.

Among the planned highlight are Irish trad sessions, a choice of bilingual workshops in sean nós dancing, singing, bodhrán playing and Irish music and a Saturday evening gig with the renowned group, The Jeremiahs.

Events include arts and crafts for children, bricfeasta as Gaeilge, a magic show for all of the family and storytelling for young children.

The group will also host a school talent competition, where kids will represent their school in singing and music competitions for the coveted Gradam na Sollán award.

The festival will take place from Friday to Sunday, October 18 to 20. More information on www.feilenasollan.com.
