The Electric Picnic comedy line up for this years music and arts festival held in Stradbally from August 31 to September 2 promises to be even better than ever with headliners such as Patrick Kielty, David Mc Savage and Kildare’s own Jarlath Regan to chase the blues away.
Kielty’s blend of edgy, who takes to the stage on Saturday, September 1 in your face satire, no holds barred one-liners and rapid-fire delivery has seen him wow both audiences and critics at all the world’s major festivals. Sharp, sassy and uncompromising, this will be Patrick’s only Irish date on his box office record breaking 2012 Autumn Tour ‘Home’.
Earlier in the day the worlds finest proponents of improvised comedy, The Steve Frost Impro All Stars and their madcap antics will leave you in a state of hilarity you never thought possible whilst comedy Rock Gods, Dead Cat Bounce will turn the laughs and their amps up to 11 and beyond.
Love him or loathe him - you can’t ignore him! David McSavage and his Savage Eye will surely polarise opinion on the rolling Stradbally lawns.
Legend is an oft overused term that’s bandied about but no other word can be used to describe laconic Omagh native Kevin McAleer when he takes to the Saturday stage. TV stars Jarlath Regan will flex his comedy muscles and get the crowd laughing
Sunday 2 September and the weary masses make like the ‘Walking Dead’ to the temple of happiness to set out their stall and stake out their spot for the ‘Prince of moderately Cool’, the enigma that is David O’Doherty . Whether its as a presenter (Never Mind The Buzzcocks BBC), a panellist (Have I Got News For You, BBC) or as an award winning comedian (if.Comedy Award, Edinburgh Festival 2009), David O’Doherty’s brand of low energy musical whimsy never fails to engage.
In fact fans of musical comedy are more than adequately catered for as all woman super group, The Nualas and their beautiful harmonies will delight people of all ages.
All in all its the most varied and exciting line up ever at the comedy tent.
