Brownstown Irish Figure Dancing Class are celebrating over 60 years of Irish Figure Dancing by hosting a “Ceili Gathering” on Saturday, November 9 in Lumville House at 8.30pm.
“We want people who danced here to come back for the night from where ever they are in the world,” said Irish dancing teacher and former pupil Evelyn Moyles.
“The school is just over 60 years old so we are celebrating over 60 years of Irish figure dancing and we are trying to get people who danced here to come back for the ngiht. We will have three competitions on the night, two Irish Dancing competitions - a Four Hand Reel and Siamsa Beirte, and also a Waltzing competition.”
The Ceili is open for all to attend with part of the evening being dedicated to the “Brownstown Irish Figure Dancing Class Gathering”.
“Our aim is to get as many previous dancers from the class to come together on the same night,” she added. “The class is in existence for over 60 years and it would be such a fantastic experience to have generations of dancers all in the same place to dance and meet up with former dance partners, friends and teachers.”
Music will be provided by Cupla -Tickets are €7 and can be purchased on the night or in advance by calling 0879521850.
