Over 80 floats expected for Naas Easter parade

SOME 85 entries have committed to the Naas Easter Parade, which will take place this Sunday, March 31.

SOME 85 entries have committed to the Naas Easter Parade, which will take place this Sunday, March 31.

The groups will represent community organisations, sports clubs and businesses along with vintage steam engines and cars, old military vehicles, fire engines, the Civil Defence and marching bands.

As part of the Gathering 2013 there will be two bands from Dillingen in Germany joining the parade with over 100 visitors including the Mayor of Dillingen and the Mayor and visitors from St. David’s in Wales .

The assembly point for the March 31 parade is on the Blessington Road and participants are requested to gather from 1pm to allows the judges time to view all the entries.

The parade will commence at 2.45pm and the review stand will be at the Courthouse building.

The presentation of prizes will be in the Osprey Hotel at 5.15pm and there will be entertainment there for all the family.

This year the Parade can be viewed live on the Internet around the world on www.seeitlive.ie at 3pm.

A large crowd is expected on the streets and organiser Cllr. Willie Callaghan has asked that parents be extra vigilant to ensure that children stay behind the safety barriers and follow the instructions of the gardai and stewards.
