Newbridge Drama Group’s upcoming production ‘Play On’ by Rick Abbot is described as an hilarious comedy, which will run in The Riverbank from Wednesday.
The play has for its subject matter a group of amateur actors who are struggling desperately to put on a play.
“Their efforts are hampered by maddening interference from a ditsy authoress played by Ester Crilly who keeps revisiting and revising the script, and by the truly awesome incompetence of the stage crew who include Joe Mc Mahon who is responsible for the dire sound effects and Maria Cummins the stage manager,” said PRO Conor Byrne.
“The stomach-churning efforts of the cast to remember their lines or even to get on or off the stage are hilarious.”
Arthur Burke the director of this comical play. No stranger to the stage himself, he believes that now more than ever people need laughter and would be hopeful that the cast that he has assembled will put smiles on the faces of their audiences.
In the play Frank Gregg and Noreen Donnelly play a posh couple, Mick Malone plays an oily villain, Caroline Malone and Keith Domican play young lovers, Hayley Mc Cormack plays the maid, and the director is played by Siobhan Mc Nulty.
The show runs from Wednesday, May 28 next to Saturday, May 31 at 8pm
