KILDARE singer, Sharon Carty, has released a new Britten CD-release along with fellow mezzo-sopranos Alison Browner.

KILDARE singer, Sharon Carty, has released a new Britten CD-release along with fellow mezzo-sopranos Alison Browner.

“The Stream in the Valley”, featuring songs and duets by Benjamin Britten, Michael Head and John Ireland, is being released on the Leipzig-based GENUIN label.

Supported bythe Arts Council Music Recording Scheme, managed by Music Network, it features Carty and Browner along with German pianist Andreas Frese.

Sharon Carty, a native of Castletown, Celbridge, a qualified physical education teacher, was a member of the opera studio at Oper Frankfurt from 2010-2012. Recently she has performed as Dido (Oper Frankfurt) and Oscar (in the world-premiere of Oscar and the lady and pink, Theater Freiburg).

A regular with ensembles such as the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Irish Baroque Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland. Future engagements include Nixon in China with Wide Open Opera and a return to both Theater Freiburg and Oper Frankfurt for role debuts in the 2014/2015 season.
