Local singer Tammy Browne will be the support act for Luka Bloom and Friends at the Newbridge Grassroots Festival Finalé Concert on Sunday 15 September next.
A Newbridge native, Tammy was a finalist in 2013 The Voice of Ireland television show on RTE earlier this year
The Voice experience has given her a huge profile and extended following as she and her band ‘Radio Shack’ gig across the length and breadth of the country from her Limerick base.
The festival,which will opne on Thursday, September 12 until Sunday, September 15 has lots to offer all ages, celebrating music, arts, sports, drama, history and culture in the town.
It will take place accross various venues in the town from The Curragh Racecourse to St Conleths Church.
A charity fun run in aid of Sensational Kids will take place on Main St on Saturday, 14 next.
Following on from the sucess of Newbridge 200 celebrations held in September last year, the Grassroots Festival will be an annual event for locals to enjoy and have fun.
Kildare soprano Celine Byrne will perform as part of the festival at St Conleth’s Church on Friday, 13 at 8.30pm. The Finalé Concert and Fireworks Display will wrap up the inaugural Newbridge Grassroots Festival, promising to bring the action packed four-day programme to a spectacular close.
Meanwhle organisers are still continuing to look for volunteers to help with event oranisation, publicity, office work and health and safety. Organisers have called for local sports clubs, theatre groups, youth groups or individuals to contact them.
