The music of late, great legend Luke Kelly lives on at the Riverbank this Saturday as Chris Kavanagh and the Patriots take to the stage.
Formed in 2001, the tribute group has performed at home and abroad, and attract fans of all ages to their gigs.
“For the older generation it’s a blast from the past, but the younger generation are there too - it’s music that gets into your blood and it stays there,” said Chris Kavanagh, who learned the banjo to take on the onstage role of Luke.
While old favourites like ‘Whiskey In The Jar’ and ‘Raglan Road’ are gig staples, Kavanagh delights in fans requesting the obscure gems inKelly’s back catalogue. The band heads for Germany, where Kelly’s music is revered, next month. Tickets €18, and show starts at 8pm.
