Naas photographer Peter Shaughnessy followed in the tracks of Bond legend Sean Connery when shooting a recent music video.
Peter, from Hollywood Park, Naas, shot the video on the very same section of railway line where actor Sean Connery shot the 1979 film ‘The Great Train Robbery’.
The disused rail line is at Castletown-Geoghegan, Co. Westmeath.
“Just as we finished shooting, the man who lives in the old station house came out and showed us a 10x8 photo he’d taken of Sean Connery with his brother on the platform when they were shooting The Great Train Robbery,” Peter explained.
“It’s something you’d never imagine happening in remote farmland 10 miles beyond Mullingar. Joe Dolan is the biggest star I ever heard of up till now in that part of the country, not Sean Connery!” Peter joked.
The music video is for a new single ‘General Disrepair’, by Brian Kenealy, formerly known as lead guitarist with ‘90s band Engine Alley.
It was shot on the old railway line to tie in with the song lyrics, and also features Brian’s son Cal Kenealy, who acted in the role of Mark in ‘Fair City’ for 3 years.
This is not Peter’s first foray into filming. A short film he wrote called ‘The Clone’ had its premiere in Berlin in 2010.
Peter went to Meanscoil Iognaid Ris, Naas. He studied photography at Griffith College Dublin, and studied digital film-making at Filmbase in Temple Bar.
The music video is now on Youtube. (Search key words: General Disrepair Brian Kenealy).
