MARK Cassells may be well known to customers of Eurospar in Naas but he’ll be exposed to a wider audience this weekend.
The 22-year-old, originally from Rathcoole, will appear on TV3’s reality dating show Take Me Out.
Mark won a place on the programme following interviews and auditions after he and a couple of friends sent in applications to take part.
“I said I’d go for it and I got through the interviews but I was still very nervous when the programme was recorded in the Helix,” Mark told the Leader.
At the outset there were 30 potential dates.
“I had to talk about myself for about 30 seconds and I lost a few of them after that. Then the programme makers played a small item about me and my friends and I lost a few more girls,” recalled Mark, who worked in Eurospar outlets in Stillorgan and Killiney before coming to Naas..
The number of potential dates was whittled down to 17 before Mark chose 27-year-old Niamh Marie Smyth from Newbridge.
“She is a lovely girl and we are great friends as a result of doing the programme. “I didn’t go looking for a wife or anything like that and most people don’t; it is a great bit of craic,” he reflected.
As a result of taking part, Mark has made a few good friends.
“It’s the best thing I’ve ever done and you get a lot of self confidence out of it.”
The programme will be broadcast at 9pm on Friday, January 25, and repeated on Saturday at 7pm.
