DIRECTOR Michael Fay and 20 members of Naas Musical Society made their way to Killarney recently for the annual AIMS (Association of Irish Musical Societies) Awards.

NMS was one of three groups in the country to win a Best Musical Director nomination for their production of Guys and Dolls last March. The awards ceremony was hosted at the Gleneagle Hotel.

Although the award went elsewhere, it didn’t dampen the NMS spirit,s said PRO Aishling Conway adding “we thank Mick Fay for all his hard work and dedication. He really deserved to be nominated and we are all very proud of him.” She also congratulated the Newbridge group for their two nominations for best stage manager and best ensemble.

The NMS annual general meeting was held in the Town House Hotel recently and a new committee was chosen for the upcoming season to put together plans for the upcoming show “Me and my Girl” which will be performed in the Moat Theatre, next March.

The show will be directed by Arthur McGauran, the Musical Director will be Dave McGauran and the crew will welcome back Deirdre Browne as choreographer.
