Some the best artistic talent in Naas will come together to delight audiences this month.
In a return of the special evening of music and drama first produced two years ago, September Songs takes to the stage from September 17 to 20.
Anyone who attended in 2010 will remember just how impressive was the talent on show.
Mona Conroy directs an evening packed with musical favourites performed by her group of talented kids, Mona’s Minors, adult singers from the musical societies in the vicinity and members of the Moat Club. Musical numbers from The Wizard of Oz, Kiss Me Kate, The Student Prince, Legally Blonde, rock and roll songs from the 1950s and favourite tunes from Percy French, Elton John, Barry Manilow, and the wonderful music of the operetta, The Merry Widow, will make up the programme.
Well-known faces from the Moat Club will add their acting talent to the musical corps with comic sketches which will intersperse the musical numbers.
Tickets are just €15 (€12 for concessions) and are available from the box office on 045 883030 and bookable online at www.moattheatre.com.
For culture night on Friday September 21, the Moat Club will stage two short plays plus an extract from September Songs. All culture night events are free.
A POI Workshop (traditional performing art of the Mäori people of New Zealand) will be hosted at the theatre from 4.45-5.15pm for people aged 12 to 16 and 5.30-6pm for over16s.
Several ten-minute plays from the Moat Club will be aired from 7.30pm Both funny and thought-provoking, they are the same short plays that popped up around Naas during the Moat Performing Arts Carnival.
