A play by Prosperous Drama Society that has won all the Festivals it entered will be performed this weekend.
“Lovely Head” comes home to Prosperous on Friday and Sat night, November 29 and 30, for the last performances before it appears in Roscommon at the All Ireland one-act Finals.
It won the festivals in Naas, Dunmore, Dundrum, Rossmore and Gorey.
Written by Neil LaBute, it is constantly surprising, none more so than at the end, funny and emotional.
The actors Robert Massey and Ashleigh O’Neill, director TJ Duggan and technical crew have received awards in various festivals.
Also on the same bill is Holy Mary by Eoin Colfer, the latest home production by the Society.
It is a one-act play which tells the story of Mary Leary from Wexford as she makes her First Holy Communion.
As Mary tells us her story, we see all the people in her life through her eight year old eyes. In turn heart rending and hilarious, her story shows the concerns of a child of eight are as real as the concerns of the adults in her life.
This play was first staged by Backstairs Productions in 2011, under the direction of Liam Halligan with actors Aileen Mythen and Iseult Golden.
This is a directorial debut by Brian Moran.
And on Sunday December 1, “Holy Mary” will accompany “Scarecrow” by Don Nigro.
