AN unusual exhibition featuring slippers is set to return to Naas.
The exhibition was launched last week and has since moved to the Athy Community Arts Centre but will return for a week in late May to McAuley Place.
Themed “If You Were In My Shoes”, the year long inter-generational community participatory arts project explores via visual arts, text and performance the creation of a pair of bespoke customised felt slippers made by each participant.
Each pair of decorated slippers embodies the vitality, aspiration and memories of each individual participant. In tandem with the creation of the slippers is a collection of stories, observations and opinions of participants, on the world around them that have emerged during the making process.
A photographic portrait of each participant completes the project.
