The recent 75th Kildare CMWS anniversary celebrations were marked not only with a special dance and mass, but also with the launch of a commemorative book.
Produced by Jim Brady, the book is beautifully made and contains lots of photos reminisent of times past.
Familiar faces from the community peer out from every page. None other than the President of Ireland, Michael Higgins has made a contibution, as has MEP Marian Harkin. Mario Corrigan describes how the original building was home to the Kildare DC Electric Station and how the town was officially lit up in 1905. Brian Murphy from the local history group looks back at the history of the building, while Mr Brady outlines the many various groups who used the facility.
Huge work has gone into this book which has been beautifully printed by Donovan Print.
It can be bought for €10 at the CMWS on bingo night or from any committee member.
