The Druids return to Clane

Local Kildare band The Druids are set to play the Westgrove Hotel in Clane on August 4.

Local Kildare band The Druids are set to play the Westgrove Hotel in Clane on August 4.

It’s a return of sorts for the band who played their first gig there in May 2009.

In the past four years, the band have gone from strength to strength and have played to audiences all over Ireland , Scotland, the US and the UK.

Support acts for the night will be Eddie Kane from Allen wood and Duchus from Athy .

And the MC on the night will be Irish international and 14-time Irish champion Boxer Eric Donovan.

The Druids have have just completed a sell out tour of the East Coast of America playing in New York, New Jersey, Peek Skills, Pompton Lakes, Denville and The Bronx, where they were warmly greeted by the large Irish communities and locals alike..

Former winners of the Best Band at the Leinster Entertainement Award 2011, the band also played Santa Ponsa Spain for the World Celtic FC Supporters Convention to over 10,000 fans.

They also won The Songs of Struggle award in Germany 2011.

In 2012 the band received the album of the year for their Starry Plough album. In June 2013 they scooped band of the year at the WBAI radio Awards in New York.

The membership of the Druids is Mick O’Brien, Paddy Mangan, Mick Dunne and Gary Lawlor.
