Athy Art Group is this week holding its 35th Annual Art Exhibition, which runs until Sunday, June 30.
It is taking place in the Athy GAA Centre on the Dublin Road.
The Exhibition was opened on Tuesday evening, the 25th June by Dr. John Macdougald.
Over 200 art pieces by some 60 local artists are featured.
“It’s our 35th year to have the exhibition,” said Athy Art Group’s chairman John Rainsford. “We have two new members this year and a lot of old members from past years. In Athy Art Group, we have amateurs to professionals, but everybody’s equal.”
“The exhibition and demonstrations are free to attend and all are welcome,” he added. “It is open from 2pm to 5pm and from 7pm to 9pm each day until Sunday, June 30th.”
“During the week there will be some demonstrations by members of the Athy Art Group,” he said.
The Athy Art Group was formed in 1971 and its first exhibition on the current scale was mounted in 1979.
The group’s only stipulation is that new members are residents of Athy.
