A host of musical acts will grace the Curragh on Derby Day, Saturday June 29 next, on stage at the very first Derby Music Village.
This year’s festival will see performances from Irish music legend Sharon Shannon with special guest Brian Kennedy, urban popsters The Original Rudeboys, Meteor Choice Music Prize 2013 winners Delorentos and indie rockers Raglans.
The Music Village is located in the racecourse enclosure and is free to visit. On Derby Day, live music will kick off from 1pm and continue through the day until 10pm.
The Derby Music Village will be hosted by emcee Hector Ó hEochagáin, and will give race goers the chance to see some of Ireland’s finest musical acts whilst soaking up the atmosphere on the track.
There will also be music at the Eflow Rewardcard Derby Festival Friday. This lively evening meeting on Friday evening, June 28, kicks off with a seven race card at 5.30pm, and there will be live music afterwards from Knights of Leon, Ireland’s top Kings of Leon tribute band.
There will also be lots of entertainment on Sunday, June 30, which is the Oxigen Environmental Family Race Day.
Kids go free on the day, and there will be a variety of entertainment, including a Toy Story show, featuring Buzz Lightyear and Woody, a magic show, the chance to meet Minnie and Mickey Mouse, together with face painters, bouncy castles and a special kids arts and crafts club.
