LARK ready to put on Hairspray in Kildare town

LARK are busy with rehearsals for the upcoming musical, Hairspray, and are delighted to announce that Kildare Farm Foods have agreed to sponsor them again this year.

LARK are busy with rehearsals for the upcoming musical, Hairspray, and are delighted to announce that Kildare Farm Foods have agreed to sponsor them again this year.

Rehearsals started last month for their tenth show which will be staged at the Riverbank Theatre Newbridge on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 Marc, and from Thursday 26 to Saturday 28 March at the CYMS Hall Kildare Town.

Chairman Paul Heffernan explained it can cost E30,000 to stage a musical and added they were delighted Kildare Farm Foods are on board again this year.

Musical Director is Lisa Nagle who praised the phenomenal committment shown by both the 45 children and 30 adults involved in the show. The new choreographer is Vicky Barry.

There are still two main roles to be cast. One is Link (white male aged 18-30, strong singer) and the other is Seaweed (black male character aged 18-30, strong singer). Contact Eoin Gannon (Director) 086 324 3765 to audition.

The following have been cast: Tracy Turnblad: Niamh Curley; Wilbur Turnblad: Paul Heffernan; Edna Turnblad: Gerry O’Toole; Penny Pingleton: Laura Farrell; Prudy Pingleton: Carol O’Sullivan; Amber Von Tussle: Aine Foley; Amber’s Understudy: Aoibheann Collins; Velma Von Tussle: Celia Moran; Little Inez: Favor Weyimi - Oboyo; Motormouth Maybell: Berlinda Mapa-Rice; Corny Collins: Cormac Malone.

The Council Members are Mikey Cleary, Aoibheann Collins, Aisling Dempsey, Anna Collins, Ben Flanagan and Leah O’Halloran.

The Detention kids are Amanda Adewole, Jacqueline Asemota, Aisling Moraes, Deirbhile Finn Spellissy and Madison Domican Byrne. The Dynamites are Demi Casey, Faith Iria and Sinead McKernan.
