The Moat Club narrowly missed out on victory in the recent Kildare Drama Festival coming runner up in the Open Section with “The Steward of Christendom”.
The sole Kildare group involved in the festival also picked up The Betty McConville Trophy for Best Costume and Design while Aidan Forde was awarded a special merit certificate. The Naas crew also scooped Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Eugene Daly and Best Actor for Padraig Broe.
“Curse of the Starving Class” by Ballyduff Drama Group won the Leinster Leader Cup for the overall Best Play in the Open Section while Sliabh Aughty Drama Group won the Confined Section with “Unforgiven”.
Festival chairperson, Edwina Weir thanked Kildare Credit Union, Kildare Farm Foods and Eurospar for their support. She also thanked all the patrons and those who attended the plays. She gave special mention to Kathleen Dunne who has been at every festival for the past 56 years.
Adjudicator, Donal Courtney thanked the committee for their hospitality and said it was a great festival.
Fr. Adrian Carbury also praised the hard work of everyone involved.
