The Big Survivor Choir Concert, sung by those who have survived cancer for Cancer Research Ireland, will take place at Our Lady and St Josephs Church, in Caragh on Friday, April 26 2013 at 8pm.

Newbridge native, bowel cancer survivor and Newbridge Gospel Choir director Lisa Nagle from Roseberry, co-founed the choir with Christina O’Connell from Naas. She had the idea after she beat breast cancer.

“The choir has been practicing every week since October last year under the musical direction of Cora Coffey and with accompanist Padraig Meredith. Most people think that what we as a group have in common is cancer, but in actual fact what we have in common is that we are survivors of cancer and we love to sing,” she said.

The music on the night will be interspersed with some of the real life survival stories.

“Our MC on the night will be Mary Kennedy who will read poems and prayers that kept us going while others will tell their stories of survival in-between singing,” she added.

“Liam Lawton will also sing on the night as a guest performer and some of his own songs will be included in the repertoire.

Tickets are on sale now in Caragh Parish Office, Newbridge Parish Centre and Naas Parish Office at E10.
