Monasterevin’s Venice of Ireland Festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday July 13 and 14.

While the festival has been a little curtailed due to cut backs in sponsorship there is still a very full agenda. On Saturday there will be a story telling session in the local library. At 1.30pm the venue for the Recycled Boat Race will be the Grand Canal Aqueduct. Registration for the Sunday Fun Run is at 12 noon on Sunday and the event commences at 1,30pm at The Square. One of the highlights over the past couple of years has been the Historic Photographs and Artefacts exhibition which will be held in The Council Hall, Main Street from 12 noon to 5pm. The exhibition is being mounted by the Monasterevin Historical Society. Check out www.facebook.com/veniceofireland and Twitter @veniceofireland Further details closer to the event.
