A table quiz held at Naas GAA club raised some E2,500 for St. Mary’s College.
About 150 people attended the event which was held for the first time in 2011 and the school’s parents’ association hope to make it annual event to raise money for extra curricular activities.
“Thanks to everybody who took part and who helped in any way, especially local businsees. Some people bought tickets but could not turn up on the night,” said Stephanie Bergin of the parents’ association.
The GAA club provided the premises free of charge and the event was attended by principal Rita McCabe and vice principal Orla Forde.
There was also a draw for an adult’s membership to Killashee Leisure Club, generously donated by Killashee House Hotel, won by Paul Grimes of Kilteel.
The organisers also thank a wide variety of businesses who helped in any way.
“The Parents’ Association look forward to the continued support of the parents and the local community in their future fundraising exploits as all the proceeds help to finance various activities in St Mary’s College and enhance the quality of education of all the pupils,” added Ms. Bergin.
