The Defence Forces annual Gala Concert evening to be held in St Brigid’s Church in the Curragh Camp on Sunday, November 10 at 8pm, was launched on Wednesday, October 16 last.

This year’s Gala Evening of Music and Song by the Defence Forces Training Centre will include a variety of opera, pop and showtime classics.

Following last year’s highly acclaimed performance to a packed attendance at St. Brigid’s Church in the Curragh the organisers have brought together another excellent cast of artists to perform a revised programme of opera, musical, choral and band favourites.

Once again the programme will be led by the Baldonnel Singers and the Army No.1 Band and will feature performances by two outstanding soloists; renowned local tenor Paul Linehan and emerging soprano Emer Barry.

The conductor of the Army No.1 Band is Capt. Fergal Carroll while David Lanigan is the Musical Director of Baldonnel Singers. Piano accompaniment will be provided by Anne Cullen.

The night which will combine for an evening of military favourites and popular arias is described as the highlight of the year for all band enthusiasts. The proceeds of the concert are donated to the Curragh Military Museuem and the Curragh Lourdes Fund.
